Hard work ahead as Middleton suffering Bexhill beating
Bexhill came away from Middleton with an emphatic 108-run win.
It meant another loss for a sorry Middleton side who need to work on their fielding.
The home side fielded first, despite having batted first and performed well in most of their previous games.
David Lowery and Malcolm Johnson opened and got to work quickly.
The breakthrough came as Johnson (23) was caught by Hoare off the bowling of Naidoo.
Lowery played sublimely for his 130, taking the attack to Middleton before being ousted by Brandon Hanley thanks to a top edge to keeper Warren.
Aaron Madgwick was again the best of the Middleton bowlers, taking two for 40.
Hanley picked up two wickets to increase his bulging 2009 tally.
Middleton were terrible in the field, and dropped catches and misfields were common.
The bowlers did not fare much better as the visitors piled on the runs. With the help of captain John Haffenden (52*), Bexhill declared at 264 for five.
For the home side, Steve Collins went for a first-ball duck to Johnson. This brought out-of-form Ed Towner to the crease, but he fell for four, also to Johnson.
Hansford (41) continued his form with quality stroke-making but failed to take advantage of being dropped twice as he gave Haffenden a simple catch off Bulteel.
With the exception of Hanley (46), the Middleton batsmen failed to compete.
Seven batsmen failed to reach double figures and extras (18) were the third highest score.
Chris Topp was the pick of the Bexhill bowlers with three for 40. Shaun Austin, Malcolm Johnson and Bulteel chipped in with two wickets each.
Middleton captain Matt Warren said: "We were very poor. The past couple of weeks haven't gone our way but we need to pick ourselves up and take a positive attitude into next weekend."
