Hutter suspended as Chichester City chairman
Chichester City have been thrown into turmoil after the club's board suspended chairman John Hutter.
The move is pending the outcome of a general meeting of the club.
It comes three months after Adie Girdler was sacked as manager and replaced by Mark Poulton.
There has been a lot of talk since that Girdler - a significant shareholder at the Oaklands Park club - wants to return to the role and has support.
A statement released to the Observer by Hutter said: "At last night's Board meeting of Chichester City Football Club, I was suspended as Chairman pending the outcome of a General Meeting of the club.
"This is a part of the battle that has been going on for some months by a group of people to gain control of the club.
"I have to say that as an Official of this club for 36 years and Chairman on and off for many of those years, I have acted at all times with honesty, integrity and always in the best interests of the club.
"I have worked tirelessly to take this club forward by helping the club achieve FA Community Club status and developing a ground and clubhouse that fully meets the FA standards for the level at which the club plays building a platform for future progression.
"I have trusted others and feel that in recent weeks have been badly let down and fear that the actions taken may well destabilise the club."
