Middleton are worthy of Worthing win

Tegan Naidoo and Adam Rawstrone were too hot to handle as Middleton recorded a huge win at Worthing.

The win took Middleton out of the relegation zone but leaves Worthing a point from danger.

Middleton decided to bat, but after losing four batsmen for 48 the visitors were in big trouble.

They lost openers Hansford (9) and Rebbetts (1), but Naidoo's strokeplay was immaculate and timing impeccable as he smashed 143 off 145, with 20 boundaries.

In-form Spedding struck 44 off 32 balls. Hanley (51) scored at a run a ball and sharing a 131-run partnership with Naidoo.

Chris Mansell took five for 67 for Worthing but Middleton's strength in depth was too much for Worthing and they declared at 267 for seven off of 48 overs.

The visitors, though hampered by a simple drop from skipper Matt Warren, were exemplary in the field.

The two star batters shone with the ball, Hanley removing Rishi for 22, and Naidoo getting the wicket of Dominic Clapp.

Youngster Rawstrone guided Middleton to the win they needed with five for 33, including three wickets in one over.

Seaman held up one end, Hanley picked up two more wickets, and the rearguard was broken with five overs to go by Mark Hoare clean-bowling Gunning.
