Midhurst angry as 'equaliser' is scrubbed out
WE WERE robbed! That was the view of the players and the Midhurst supporters who travelled to Mile Oak.
Eighty minutes had elapsed and with the score 2-1 to the home side, Midhurst had ten minutes to level or improve the score.
Then John McDermott scored what looked a perfectly-good goal from a well--placed pass from Ashley Holloway.
The referee indicated a goal – only for a young linesman to wave his flag to indicate an infringement.
As if to give his support, the referee changed his mind and Midhurst finished with nothing.
Even the home supporters were puzzled by the decision.

Midhurst were playing their fifth game and with only two draws to show so far needed the points.
Play was fairly balanced in the first half although Mile Oak were having more shots at goal.
Paul Williamson in Midhurst's goal was in good form but two minutes before the half-time whistle, a break down the left saw Aaron Ranson strike a fierce shot which just evaded Williamson.
Just after the restart, Mile Oak went further ahead as Ash Long netted – and Midhurst were looking low on enthusiasm as a result.
A good pass by club captain Ian Saunders saw John McDermott reduce the deficit.
The chance for an equaliser for Midhurst came as Ashley Holloway broke clear of a Mile Oak defender. But his shot went over the bar.
Both sides brought on subs. Bruno Costa was replaced by Luke Sheldrick for Midhurst. The change couldn't save them from defeat.
Midhurst have a need for one or two goalscorers or they could well end up in the lower reaches of the division again as they did last season.
On Saturday, Midhurst visit Seaford, who are third with ten points from their five games.
