Midhurst made to look poorly by Fawley
Midhurst and Bosham both slipped to defeats in the latest round of Hampshire League games.
Midhurst v Fawley
Division one
Fawley's powerful batting line-up played Midhurst out of the game at The Ruins.
Fielding first looked a good decision on a green wicket but Fawley's opening batsmen destroyed Midhurst's attack, posting 203 for the first wicket at better than six an over.
Andy Parratt, dropped around 50, went on to score a rapid 160.
Leon Fourie and Tim Dixon were the pick of the bowlers but Midhurst dropped three catchable catches and lost the opportunity to reduce Fawley to a score below 300.
The total of 358 for four demonstrated the strength of the Fawley batting, the trueness of the wicket and speed of the outfield.
Midhurst began well with Simon Lush and Mike Goodwin scoring at six an over but Lush slipped setting off for a run and pulled a muscle.
Alistair Smith joined Goodwin, but the rate dropped to five an over.
Smith was out with the score on 118 but Goodwin's wicket for a well-constructed 65 really slowed Midhurst.
Tom Hughes batted well and showed intelligent placement of shots to score 55 and Tim Dixon's rapid cameo of 39 at the end propelled Midhurst to maximum batting points.
They were a poor second best, but at least gained something from the game.
Ryde II v Bosham
Reg two south east
A fine 74 from Cameron White helped Ryde to a big win over Bosham that ensures they remain top of the division.
On a good batting track, Dominic Hillyard made the unsurprising decision to bat first. Opening pair Dil Dhillon and Toby Jackson started well and by the 14th over had added 65 when Jackson hit across the line and was bowled by Martin Farrell.
White accumulated a faultless 74 that included 11 fours. He was supported by James Cutting (48) and Sean Tiltman (38) as Ryde made 259 for four. White was out when Mark Allen took a brilliant catch at first slip off John Barnett.
Bosham opened with father-and-son combination Duncan and George Barratt. They batted through the opening spell of Jackson and Keith Cooper but in the 12th over, Duncan Barratt was bowled by Lewis with the score on 60.
David Goodman struck 65 but was run out with a direct hit from Cooper.
Bosham had fallen behind the rate thanks to accurate bowling from Gavin Moody and Steve Lewis.
The pair successfully contained the Bosham batsmen, who ended the afternoon seven down but 90 short of their target.
