BOGNOR’s Friday Night Summer Darts League came to a conclusion with a blind trebles knockout followed by the trophy presentations at the Newtown Social Club.
A total of 75 players took part in the knockout, the most ever in the summer. The early rounds saw a few top players leave the competition.
The first semi-final saw Rob Tite (Newtown X), Pauline Waller (ASC) and Richard Ragless (Wheatsheaf) beat Dave Wingate (Friary D), Maggie Doyle (Richmond Regulars) and Andy Chant (Sports Club).
In the second, Paula Duckett (Richmond Rebels), Colin Ragless (Friary D) and John Abbott (BRSA B) went out to Chris Gatford (Hunston Club), Stuart Rose (Newtown A) and Dave Bourne (Friary C).
The final’s first leg saw a score of 125 from Gatford put his team in to the lead before misses from Gatford, Rose and Bourne gave Tite a chance which he took with his first dart to take the first leg for his team.
The second leg saw Bourne start with a ton, but later Gatford took no prisoners and hit double ten to take the second leg.
The last leg was much closer as the teams shared high and low scores all the way.
Gatford had a chance for his team to win but missed it. Tite missed double 19 with two darts but slid his last dart along the first two and into the double to take the win and the title for his trio, who won £165 between them.
An excellent selection of silverware was supplied by C&M Trophies of Littlehampton for the presentation.
