Chichester’s new crop of under-13 athletes will be contesting the Sussex grand ginal club competition this Sunday. It’s the highlight of the season for the top ten clubs in Sussex.
The club will attempt to maintain their proud tradition of never having finished lower than fifth since the competition was started in its present form in 2000.
In the past 13 years, Chichester have won the event on four occasions and head the overall rankings.
In addition, the competition has provided a fine first involvement in team events for the juniors, many of whom have progressed through the age groups and now make up the bulk of the club’s senior Southern Athletics team.
With a full programme of track and field events to cover including A and B strings in each event, clubs will need a squad of 30 athletes to compete with the best. This year’s event will take place at the K2 Stadium at Crawley with the first event at 12.30pm.
