CHICHESTER are 2014 Hampshire Summer League champions.

At the end of a very successful season in the Hampshire Squash League, Chichester’s first team beat LA Fitness to set up a final against Alverstoke, who had beaten Nuffield II in the other semi-final.

The final was hosted by Nuffield Portsmouth and Chichester started strongly with Claire Briance comfortably winning at string five and Zoe Shardlow, at four, winning with a fine example of exhibition squash.

Tony Adams, the Chichester captain, won a bruising encounter 3-1 against ex-England top-20 player Dan Hicks, despite being down in three of the games.

Joe Seaman, a new father and very talented player, won a tough battle against Paul Martin 3-2. The Chichester No1 vet Jamie Allday, however, could not complete the clean sweep – he lost 3-0 to a relentless Paul Holdway.
A fine 4-1 victory for Chichester meant a dream realised for Tony Adams who had played and lost in no fewer than seven finals.
