Alex Ellison, a junior member of Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club, attended an under-eight national talent ID day at Nottingham Tennis Centre.

The LTA talent ID scheme operates at three levels – county, regional and national – with players selected at each stage to proceed to the next. About 30 boys in each age group are invited at the highest level.

Alex has been working hard at his tennis with Justin Pollard, head coach at the club, and the coaching team. He was delighted to be invited to the national day, which consisted of physical tests, tennis drills and matchplay with plenty of coaches on hand to assess performance.

As part of the preparation for the day, Martin Reeves, LTA Sussex talent performance co-ordinator, visited the club to hit with Alex and help with his technique.
