Chichester tennis youngsters shine among county's best

This grade-four singles tournament was the latest in a series of junior events that have been staged at the club during the current summer competition season.

This event was run using a compass draw format of 16 players, guaranteeing every player four matches. Each match comprised one short set to four games, with a tie-break at 4-4.

In the bronze medal position Jude Newman (Epsom LTC) defeated Jayden Hobbs (Pavilion & Avenue Tennis Club) 4-0 in the third/fourth play-off.

Sai Gandepalli (Sutton Tennis Academy) won the gold medal after winning an exciting final 4-2 against Ross Wilson of Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club.

Tournament referee Peter Cook said: “We were entertained with some exceptionally good tennis. It was also particularly encouraging to see several of our own club players taking part and performing so well, one of whom made it to the final.”
