It’s been a difficult winter so far, so Cowdray Park GC were delighted to be able to play their January medal.

There was a good entry of 86, and considering the recent weather, the course was in a very good condition.

Scores: Div 1 – Alex Stoner nett 68; Div 2 – Robbie Hogg 65 (overall winner); Div 3 – Andy Marriner 66.

Cowdray ladies started 2011 with a best-nine-holes competition. The day was cold and dry but the snow stayed away.

The silver division was won by Morag Carter with 24 points, Gaynor Dudman was second with 23 and Wendy Street third with 22.

The bronze-division winner was Sandra Barber with 23. Pauline Lamb was runner-up with 23 on countback from Margaret Tucker.

The competition was organised by Mary Morling.

The first round of Cowdray seniors’ Captain’s Prize was called off yet again after heavy overnight and morning rain. The competition has been re-scheduled for February 3.

Further competitions are due on Thursdays in January – the monthly stableford and the Elliot Cup.
