THE BOGNOR Friday Night Summer League captains and secretaries knockouts were held at Aldwick Royal British Legion, featuring 31 players.

The secretaries’ knockout started with 17 players, the biggest turnout in the summer for at least ten years.

With all the big players making it through the first few rounds, the semi-final line-up saw Keith Robinson (Chi Snooker C) take on Keelan Belcher (Newtown SC A) and Bradley Marshall (BRSA Ravens) face Lee Franklin (POW Z). Two tough matches ended with Robinson and Franklin in the final.

The first leg saw Robinson score the first ton, but Franklin hit back and eventually won it with double two.

In the second leg, Robinson was ahead all the way to the double but Franklin needed 94 and hit treble 18 and double top, taking the summer secretaries’ title 2-0.

The captains’ knockout had 14 players involved and the semi-finals saw Colin Mace (POW Z) take on Peter Hall (Chi Snooker A) and Alex Norgett (Newtown SC A) face Adi Linfield (Chi Snooker C).

Hall and Norgett missed out, leaving another POW Z-v-Chi Snooker C final.

Mace threw first and in a nip-and-tuck first leg, he slipped up to Linfield take it. The second leg was also close but Linfield hit double 13 to make it 2-0 and take the summer captains’ title for the third time.
