Darts: Trebles all round for Benevolent League players

The divisional trebles knockouts for the Friday Benevolent League took place at the Newtown Social Club. Numbers were a little down on last year’s massive turnout, but it was a good night.

Only eight teams of three turned up for the division-one knockout. The first semi-final saw a Claremont Cobras fight between Gary Blackwood, Mike Hales and Matt Spindler and Luke Forden, Chris Williams and Darren Rich.

The second semi-final saw Sam Abrehart, Dave Owens and Graeme Dutton from the POW Z take on Rick Cousins, Andy Stubbs and Chris Osborne from Chi Snooker B.

In the final the pairs knockout finalists Blackwood and Spindler teamed up with Hales to face Abrehart, Owens and Dutton.

The pairs knockout had seen Abrehart and Owens win, and with the help of Dutton they managed it again to take the division-one trebles knockout title.

Meanwhile in division two, another eight trebles were throwing for their chances. The first semi-final saw Tom Spencer and Keith Robinson from Chi Snooker C team up with division-three player Sam Chant from the Ship Inn, and they took on Alex Norgett, Adam Norgett and Keelan Belcher from the Newtown SC.

The second semi-final saw Adi Linfield, Nathan Warren and Shelly Wands from Chi Snooker C face Arthur Clark, Ian Hills and Brian Laker from Chi Snooker A.

In the final Linfield, Warren and Wands were defeated by Norgett, Norgett and Belcher.

The division-three knockout saw 12 teams take to the oche. The first semi-final saw Les Jackson, Andy Chant and Roy Gibson from the Ship Inn take on Steve Aizlewood, Steve Taylor and John Abbott from the BRSA B.

The second semi-final saw Mick Isles and Ashley Clements from the Aldwick Barn team up with Mary Todd from the Richmond Royals, and they came up against more Aldwick Barn players Richard Pennells, Lee Clark and Ben Isles.

In the final saw Aizlewood, Taylor and Abbott beat Isles, Clements and Todd.
