As the 2014 British Automobile Racing Club Clubmans Championship got under way at Brands Hatch in Kent, Stephen Huison from Chichester - in his second year in the event - competed in his Mallock 28/30 within the Sports 1600 class.
Qualifying saw Huison place his Mallock 19th on the grid with a time of one minute. Although that was not as quick as other competitors, he is still learning the car and circuits.
For the first of the weekend’s two races Huison had a good steady start, pushing the car to his limits while learning the circuit and showed good awareness of faster drivers coming past, remaining out of trouble throughout the 20-minute race, unlike some.
He took the chequered flag in 15th place and four laps down.
Race two saw him start 14th on the grid. He got a good start but the more experienced drivers behind did go ahead. Again he remained out of trouble for 20 minutes and finished again in a very credible 15th place and only three laps down with other competitors not finishing.
