THE launch of a national trampolining league brought more than 460 youngsters from all over GB to Cardiff for the first in a series of four events.
With some of their national performers away, Bognor-based Dragonflyers took seven competitors. Despite having the summer off training, all seven finished in the top 24 in their categories, gaining points towards national finals to be held in Cambridge in December.
There, the top 24 in each age group at the end of the series jump for the national title – an amazing achievement.
Anya Johnston again showed her professionalism as she maintained exceptional height and accuracy in both ten bounce routines to qualify in the top eight to jump off in the finals, where she finished in the medals gaining third position in the under-14 girls’ event.
Karis Pullen and Lee Burgess narrowly missed out on finals – they finished in ninth place in the under-16 girls and over-19 boys’ groups respectively.
The next event is to be held in Perth, Scotland, in October, when Flyers coaches are expecting huge improvements and a step up the rankings now their trampolinists will be back in the gym working hard after the summer break.
