Oscar O’Hara, a member of Chichester Fencing Club, has been selected by England Fencing for the under-15 foil squad to take part in the CEP Marathon in Paris in February.

The competition is one of the biggest youth internationals in the fencing world, last year involving 550 boys and girls from 22 countries.

Oscar, a pupil at Ditcham Park School, is one of only four 13-year-olds in the top dozen of the England under-15 rankings.

He is Sussex under-14 foil champion for the second year running, and previously he was under-12 champion for two years.

Oscar is the second Ditcham Park pupil to have been chosen for the England squad.

In 2007 Albert de Jongh fought in this prestigious competition.
