A YOUNG trampolinist from Bognor has racked up some superb competition results.

Philippe Newton-Young, 12, claimed silver in an elite trampoline synchro competition in Seaford, East Sussex, and gold in a National League event at Newcastle.

Newton-Young said a huge thank you to his coach Laurel Kennedy, who trains him so well.

The silver came with his parter Morgan Purnell, while the gold was achieved in a tough field of 11.

At the event in the north-east, six members of Newton-Young’s club took part and five got medals (three golds, one silver and one bronze), making it a very successful weekend.

The National League finals come next for Newton-Young at the Copper Box, a 2012 Olympic venue in London, on November 21 and 22. He is excited about the prospect of taking part.
