Race officer Derek Jackman, supported by the CYC Solo fleet, laid a course to make the most of the lake area. With two good beats and a long run, the course took a long time to set, delaying the start.

In the first race, the fast fleet eager to get away pressed the line, causing a general recall and a black flag restart.

Despite the cold the racing was good.
