Parents and coaches from Southbourne Gymnastics Club were torn with two competitions were being held at the same time in different venues.

In Uckfield, the invitational floor and vault competition saw Ryan Thorn take silver and Artem Nugmanova bronze in his first competition in the intermediate and novice level competition.

At the same time, the girls were in winning form at Fareham’s four-piece invitational competition.

Alongside overall second and third-placed gymnasts Rebecca Pack and Ysabelle Searle, who won six medals in their age group, Zara Langley won bronze on floor and beam and silver on bars.

Frankie Wright took bronze on floor and Issi Stapleton bronze on bars. Rachel and Katie Durham travelled home with ten medals between them with six other medals won in the age group by Poppy Chandler, Molly Stewart and Eleanor McKay.

Eleanor Pack and Phoebe Duncan-Duggal finished with four medals and Thea Huxley four, including gold overall.

In the level-three age ten to 12 competition, Issi Ware, Megan Ward, Tilly Leeming, Molly Mitchell and Chloe Wileman swept the board, winning every medal available in this group.

In the level-four competition, Megan Flynn won bronze on bars and Becky Wilson bronze on floor. Dani Thorn won two silver and three gold, including the overall gold in the age group.

Ruby Chandler, Molly McNaugher, Bella Janeece, Bethan Potts and Harriet Barker gave great performances in their first competition, showing promise for the future.

With all the gymnasts at both events competing with new routines and skills they have worked hard to perfect, coaches said it was good to see it paying off with such polished performances.

Such high-quality gymnastics from the children at all levels within the club shows how hard they work. They travel to Hastings and Shoreham for their next two competitions.
