THE 16th Felpham Colts football tournament was blessed by glorious sunshine which arrived just in time to make it a fantastic sporting weekend.
With more than 140 teams entered from all over the county and farther afield, an estimated 3,500 peope attended one of the largest youth football tournaments around.
Age groups ranging from the infectiously-enthusiastic under-fives and sixes right up to the battle-hardened under-18s provided excellent entertainment for a bumper crowd on the fields of Felpham Community College.
Special mentions must go to that youngest age group, the future footballing generation, for their enthusiasm. They epitomised the fun of football and started the weekend off in brilliant style.
Congratulations go to all tournament winners and runners-up across the age groups - with Felpham Colts Youth under-tens among them.
This is a volunteer-run event and its success is fundamental in ensuring the future of the club and enabling local boys and girls the opportunity to play football every week. The Colts thanked all of those who volunteered their time to make this weekend such a tremendous success.
They are already looking forward to next year’s 17th tournament and can’t wait to welcome back all this year’s teams - and more - for a potentially-bigger and better event.
