Most golfers would be more than happy to achieve a hole-in-one in their lifetime, but Cowdray Park senior Tony Pike defied astronomical odds to record two holes-in-one in the same round.
He was playing a round with his wife, Angela, who shared his delight at his feat.
Tony has been a member of Cowdray Park Golf Club for over 25 years and this was the first time he had scored an ace at his home club, although he did score one at Old Thorns, Liphook, previously.
Unfortunately, because of the terrain, he did not see either ball enter the hole directly.
The two holes he achieved the double on were, the 177 yard par-three third with a seven-iron and the 120-yard par-three 11th with a pitching wedge.
The 11th can be very tricky to hold the ball on the green as there is a large bunker facing the tee shot, while anything over-hit can easily run off the back of the green.
Outside of golf, Tony’s main sporting interest is Southampton FC, where he is a season-ticket holder, with a seat directly behind the home side’s dugout.
