The start of the 2013 Corporate Challenge series brought hundreds of runners and spectators out on to the streets of Chichester.
A record number of entries made for a fabulous atmosphere as primary and secondary school pupils and then the seniors pounded the streets in some excellent times.
Conditions were perfect - it was dry and not too cold - for the launch of the 22nd running of the popular series.
There was a familiar winner of the main A race for the faster adult runners - Chichester’s James Baker came home in 13.32 - just 18 seconds outside his best time in the history of the race.
Afterwards he said he was aiming to repeat his 2009 feat of winning each of the year’s three races. The next race nights are on March 13 and March 27.
Organisers from Chichester Runners & AC were delighted by the turnout, particularly the number of primary-school youngsters who crowded on to the North Street start line.
