A 12-YEAR-OLD from Fontwell enjoyed major success at the Pony of the Year show.
Xenia Truman, who attends Seaford College, took part with her pony Eliza Day.
They showjumped on the first two days of the show at Bury Farm Equestrian Village, Buckinghamshire, in the 138cm pony section over a 1.15m course, from which the top 20 each day qualified for the final Grand Prix the next day.
The Grand Prix was over three rounds with clear rounds being put forward to the next higher round.
The first round produced 14 clearances, who were put through to a higher shortened course. That produced just five clear rounds to go through to the final jump-off. Xenia and Eliza Day’s time put them in second place overall.
Xenia, who has been paired with Eliza Day only since October, said: “Eliza Day is a phenomenal jumper and we completely trust each other which really helps in the ring.”
For the rest of the 2014 season, Xenia hopes to qualify for the Horse of the Year Show final and represent England at a home pony international competition.
