Fontwell Park stages one of its biggest meetings of the year tonight (Thursday) – Ladies’ Evening.

Always a hugely-popular event in Sussex, this year’s event is built around a card of seven races starting at 5.10pm and concluding three hours later.

Ahead of final declarations, the seven races had attracted 135 entries. The action on the track begins with the Sara Tiara Hat Company Novices’ Hurdle and ends with the Winner Van Hire 0800 022 4247 Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race.

Champion jump jockey AP McCoy is among those booked for rides.

Our tips: 5.10 Uriah Heep, 5.40 Mister Wiseman, 6.10 Sur La Mer, 6.40 Mont Royale, 7.10 Finish The Story, 7.40 Owner Occupier, 8.10 Crashing Thew Life.

Fontwell staff have pulled out all the stops to ensure Ladies’ Evening is bigger and better than ever before.

After racing, there’s live music from X-Factor finalist and 2013 Teenstar UK winner Luke Friend with support from The Parades.

Fontwell have teamed up with a number of local businesses to ensure every aspect of the evening, presented by Winners Events, is covered.

There will be ten Miss Sussex finalists scouring the racecourse looking out for the race-goer who will take home the title of best-dressed lady and a £1,000 gift card to spend at Cascades shopping centre in Portsmouth.

Racecourse executive director Simon Williams said: “The team here at Fontwell Park are looking forward to the evening.

“There will be plenty going on in between the seven races, the best dressed lady competition being one of the highlights, and live music from luke Friend another.

“Advance bookings are ahead of last year.”

Transport to and from the racecourse comes in the form of a free shuttle service provided by Stagecoach, with services departing from Barnham railway station and Chichester bus station via Bognor Regis, Arundel, and Worthing Promenade, returning via the same routes at 10pm.

Full details of the bus services provided are available on the Fontwell Park website.

Admission tickets on the gate for the evening are £15 for the Paddock enclosure, and £20 for the Premier enclosure.
