Arun Gymnastics and Trampoline Club members with their Olympic-themed competitor numbers

GYMNASTS from Arun Gymnastics and Trampoline Club enjoyed another day of success as five elite girls competed at the Sussex Women’s Invitational at the Pavilions, in Horsham.

With all the girls competing in the first round they were well supported and the additional encouragement showed as the girls went on to win three medals – two of them gold.

Olivia Kirkwood competed in the modified level five for 01/02 births where she put together an almost impeccable performance which resulted in her scoring an impressive total of 47.8 – nearly 90 per cent of her total start value -– and gaining the first gold medal.

Her first piece of apparatus was vault and two strong runs put her in front of the pack where she was to end up staying. Her top performance came from a superb bars routine dropping just 1.1 marks again placing her first.

Arun’s youngest elite gymnasts Grace Markey and Libby Morton competed in the level five in age and for 04 births group.

Markey took sixth place and a coveted flower with her consistent performances and Moron, who performed a beautifully-choreographed second-placed floor routine finished seventh.

Molly Evans competed in the level five out of age for 03/02 births competition and she had top six finishes on all four pieces of apparatus.

Her best was a bars routine where she picked up a fabulous first place. A sixth place on vault and floor and a beautiful beam routine earning her fourth place, saw her finish third overall and give her the bronze medal.

12-year-old Lucy Stephenson-Gill, Arun’s oldest elite gymnast , came away with Arun’s second gold medal in the modified level 4 for 00 births competition.

Arun’s gymnasts also won the competition for the most original competitor numbers decorated to an Olympic theme.
