Bognor youngsters have plenty to bring to table (tennis)

Players from Bognor Regis Table Tennis Club got off to a winning start in this year’s National Cadet League at Southampton.

Seven players from the club, representing BRTTC and The Littlehampton Academy, registered for this national event for the first time after securing sponsorship from local firm Adams Beeny.

Both teams made the most of their opportunity, each winning two matches out of three.

Although the event was for under-15s, all of the Bognor Regis TTC team were under 12. Ryan Darwen led the way in winning all of his nine games, while Wiktoria Brewka won five out of nine and Cieran McCaughan four from nine.

The Littlehampton Academy team also performed very well on their debuts, winning two of their matches 9-0 and 8-1. Cameron Elder won all six of his games, ably supported by Charlie Baker (five out of nine), James Boltwood (5/6) and Jack Kates (3/6).

The next stage of the National Cadet League will be at Waterside TTC, Southampton, on November 18. For more info check the club website www.bognorregisttc.co.uk
