Change lanes, Michael Phelps! Now Chichester’s swimmers find the Olympic spirit

Young swimmers at Chichester Cormorants Swim School embraced the Olympic spirit with a gala evening.

Swimmers were presented with their Olympic time trial certificates and medals and, along with parents, were thrilled to be photographed holding a genuine Olympic torch.

All swimmers achieved personal-best times, rewarding their hard work and dedication over the summer term.

Head coach Carol Barber was impressed by all swimmers, especially the five-year-olds who had swum one length of front crawl and back crawl having been non-swimmers at the start of the term.

Other swimmers swam all four of the competitive strokes and executed the tricky relay takeovers without disqualification.

The children really enjoyed this taste of competitive swimming and may follow some previous swim school swimmers to competition at county and national level.

The Cormorants’ swim school accepts swimmers and non-swimmers from the age of five.
