Darts: Owens and Whitehorse gallop to Bognor League honours

The top performance of the week in the Bognor Friday Night League came from Whitehorse Z player Dave Owens with winning legs of 14 and 22 darts, giving him a 27.83 average.

Other top performances: Cliff Prior (17 & 23), Rob Collins (18 & 18), Harry Annals (18 & 24), Ashley Clements (18 & 25), Connor Durham (20 & 23), Nick Spicer (20 & 23), Ray Wellfare (21), Colin Mace (21 & 25), Chris Gatford (22 & 24), George Claridge (22), Bob Twaites (24), Graham Crawley (25), Adi Linfield (16 & 25), Mark Hatton (21 & 23), Alex Norgett (24 & 29).

Highest out shots: Vince Goddings (112), Ray Wellfare (103), Mark Hatton (150). 180s: Dave Owens (2), Hayley Gatford, Adi Linfield.

In division one, the top-of-the-table clash saw Whitehorse Z take over top spot by one point after defeating league leaders Wheatsheaf.

In division two, league leaders Claremont were out of action and second-placed Royal Oak closed the gap to seven points.

Division-three action saw the Newtown derby played, and leaders Newtown B won to keep top spot, while long-time leaders Chi Snooker returned to winning ways and kept the pressure on in third place.

Tuesday Night Double-in League

The top performances came from Courtney Wilson with 19 and 25 darts, Dave Mitchell (19), Rob Misselbrook (20), Chris Gatford (21 & 30), Cliff Prior (23 & 26), Adi Linfield (23), Alex Norgett (24 & 24), Andy Cooper (24), Connor Durham (25 & 27), Ashley Clements (25).

Highest in shots came from Dave Mitchell (152), Steve Mitchell (120), Cliff Prior (100) and Phil Peters (100). There was only one high finish – from Chris Gatford (Chi Snooker B – 150) – and with just two 180s, from Rob Misselbrook and Ashley Clements with one each.

In division one, league leaders Claremont were out of action. It was up to the two chasing teams to provide the drama and Crown Snooker produced an 8-1 win against the Royal Oak to go joint second with them.

Division two saw The Cabin inflict a second defeat on The Lamb to go marching into second place, but defiant leaders Old Barn keep winning.

Midhurst Threes League

There are plans to launch a new darts league for teams in Midhurst and surrounding areas to be played on Mondays or Tuesdays starting in April. Details will be sent to all venues within the next week or two, but if you wish to get details earlier, email midhurst3@fsmail.net. The league will be based on three-a-side playing a round-robin format so there will be plenty of darts with cash prizes throughout each division.
