Another challenging week for university sport saw just six victories for Chichester teams.

Once again the football and netball teams bucked the trend, continuing their excellent form with several teams tasting victory.

The netball first team travelled to Portsmouth, and despite tough outdoor conditions, came away with another impressive win - 41-33 - to move six points clear at the top of division 1A.

Back on campus the netball third and fourth teams recorded comfortable wins over Imperial Medics and LSE.

The men’s badminton first team enjoyed an epic 4-4 draw at home to Sussex University.

Dan Taylor and last year’s fresher of the year Ryan Acquah once again put in some impressive performances.

In hockey the men’s second team flew the flag with another high-scoring performance, defeating Royal Holloway 5-1.

Women’s basketball captain Katie Doubleday and fresher Abi Swieton scored 20 points apiece in a 48-43 win over Imperial College.

Tom Chaplin’s men’s football seconds secured a crucial a 2-1 win over Portsmouth, Wellen and Garrett scoring the goals. The first team travelled to Swansea and battled to a 1-0 victory - see pages 108-109 for football reports.
