PICTURES: Course record broken as 1,500 complete Bognor Prom 10k

Ethiopian ace Tadele Geremew took half a minute off the course record as he strolled to victory in the Bognor Prom 10k.

The red-hot favourite crossed the line in 30min 36sec - smashing the previous best of 31.06, set in 2005 by Matthew Norrington.

In a triumph for organisers, another 1,500 runners crossed the line behind Geremew.

Second and third places went to two local athletes. Runner-up was Jo Corbett in 32.18 and third was Chichester’s James Baker in 32.37.

The first woman home was a very creditable fourth overall - Linda Spencer passing the post in 33.38.

Serious club runners mixed with charity fundraisers as the race, which escaped the predicted rain, was voted a big success.

See if you can see yourself in our gallery of pictures by Spencer Gale - and don’t miss the Observer on Thursday, when we’ll have reports, pictures and a full list of finishers and their times.
