Regis Gymnastics members are thrilled after a strong finish to their competition season.

The squad travelled to Burgess Hill to participate in the Sussex four-piece competition.

For most of the team this was only their second competition. In groups of more than 25 gymnasts, the Regis gymnasts posted many top-ten finishes.

Performance of the day was by Madeleine Russell who took two fifth places, on floor and beam, in the nine years’ novice group.

Rosie Capper took sixth place on floor with Elissa Jones in eighth, and Paris Wilson was eighth on beam. Elinor Haines and Freya Betteridge also competed well.

The girls and boys’ squad made the short trip to Arun Gymnastics Club for their invitational floor and vault competition.

They continued their strong form and began securing medals. Billy Bicknell had a fantastic competition to secure silver on vault and floor to take second overall - Regis’s best-ever all around result.

Johan Keijser-Petch had an impressive competition debut, taking bronze for his tidy floor routine and sixth place on vault to finish fourth overall.

The girls were again in a big group but Rosie took an excellent fifth place on floor with Paris seventh. Madeleine took sixth on vault and finished a strong ninth overall, and Elissa and Elinor competed well across both pieces to finish joint 13th.

Head coach Anna King said: “These results demonstrate how much we’ve progressed over this season.”

Would-be gymnasts should contact Anna on 07799 836341.
