Plenty to play for as local cricket season nears its end

Chichester lost a shortened game, Stirlands still have an outside chance of relegation and Middleton and Pagham still have hopes of the division three west title after the latest matches.

In the Premier League, Preston Nomads were frustrated by ground conditions at Chichester and had to be satisfield with sixteen points as winners of a 20/20 game at Priory Park.

Chichester were dismissed for 114 with 35 from Chris Kirkham and 31 from David Leaver as Joe Gatting took 3 for 29.

Gatting then hit 52 in a winning score of 115 for 7 , Chris Kirham taking 2 for 11.

Chichester remain fifth - while Preston Nomads need just one point for the title.

In division two, Stirlands and Lewes Priory played out a draw with both needing points at Birdham.

In a Stirlands score of 216 for 7 declared Sean Heather hit 92 and Will Gubbins 37, David Tong taking 4 for 45.

Lewes held on at 200 for 8 with 67 from Imran Khan and 61 from Nick Seager. Sean Heather took 3 for 77 and Struan Cameron 3 for 31.

Stirlands could still go down, but there are two clubs more likely to take the last relegation spot.

The destiny of the Division 3 West championship must wait until the final week with three clubs still within reach of promotion.

Goring moved into top place after demolishing Henfield by 8 wickets. Henfield opted to bat first but Goring's Australian fast bowler Ross Brown took 8-26 as the home side were skittled for just 68. Danny Pittham made 38 not out to complete Goring's victory.

Pagham remain in contention after a 6 wicket win at Littlehampton.

The home side's 149 proved not to be enough with Wayne Green taking 5-33 in their innings. Nathan Roberts then hit 85 not out to leave Pagham best placed should Goring slip up next week.

Middleton are close behind in third after having their free week and may yet regain their place in Division 2.
