GARY and Jamie Moore can sit at racing’s top table these days – but that won’t stop them accepting invites to one of their favourite tracks, Fontwell Park.

The Sussex father-and-son trainer-jockey duo were celebrating a Group One success – Gary’s first one – when Sire De Grugy won the famous Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown on Saturday.

Seventy-two hours later, they were in the more familiar surroundings of Fontwell but back in the winner’s enclosure as 9/2 shot Agincourt Reef took the Golden Wedding Handicap Hurdle.

Afterwards the pair were asked about their top-level success of the weekend and were typically modest about it, with Moore junior saying he celebrated his Sandown triumph with a lasagne.

The Moores are regulars at Fontwell and rarely go home without at least one to their name, so it was no real surprise to see their runner get the better – though only by a neck – of 13/8 favourite Mixologist, who at one stage looked like giving jockey Noel Fehily his third win in three races.

Fehily had just notched a double for Charlie Longsdon, scoring with My Miss Lucy (5/1) in the 32Red Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle and Pete The Feat (5/2) in the three-miles-plus 32Red Casino Handicap Chase.

There was success in the RD Decs Tosh And Go Handicap Hurdle for Louis Muspratt on Osmosia (4/1 fav), tipped by Observer sports editor Steve Bone on Twitter.

A couple of other favourites prevailed too - Denis O’Regan won the 32Red On The App Store Juvenile Hurdle on board 6/4 chance Muhtaris, while the 32RedPoker.com Handicap Chase went to James Banks under Midnight Charmer, who went off 9/4 market leader.

Michael Byrne, riding the Tim Vaughan-trained 8/1 contender Bucking The Trend, claimed the 32Red.com Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase.

Fontwell’s next meeting is the big Boxing Day feature. A huge crowd is expected and tickets are selling fast - see www.fontwellpark.co.uk or call 01243 543335 for more.
