Hayley Turner is racecourse ambassador for Goodwood this year and her role includes her sharing her selections for each race meeting with readers. Read on for sports editor Steve Bone’s selections, too.

Here she talks through Friday evening’s card...

“In the first race at 6.15pm, the MTV Staying Alive Foundation Apprentice Handicap, I like the look of Rhombus,” writes Hayley.

“He was third last time out on his reappearance and should come on for the run.

“In the 6.50pm Three Friday Nights Handicap, Belle Batardo would be my pick as he has been running well recently particularly when second last time out.

“I think Sunbula has a good chance in the 7.20pm Bibendum Maiden Fillies’ Stakes. She was second last time out in April, so fresh from two months off the track and fitted with a hood this time which will sharpen her up, I think she could go one better.

“My selection for the Gordon’s Stakes (Handicap) at 7.55pm is Novirak, who is lightly raced for a five-year-old and still looks to be going to right way so I think he may have a chance here.

“In the 8.25pm Trevor Nelson Fillies’ Handicap, I like Maklekat Jamal. I think there could be more to come from this filly who won last time out at Windsor.

“In the last race on the card at 8.55pm, the Goodwood Farm Shop Handicap, I like the look of Jubilant Queen who got off the mark in a similar race last time out and I think she has a good chance again here.”

Observer sports editor Steve Bone’s tips: 6.15 Bee Jay Kay, 6.50 Where’s Reiley, 7.20 Azelle, 7.55 Duke of Clarence, 8.25 Saucy Minx, 8.55 Jubilant Queen.
