Weather's been a blessing as Lady heads to Goodwood
Lady Deauville has relished the recent downpours and is fancied to record her first Pattern-race success in the Group Three Racing UK On Sky 432 Select Stakes at Goodwood on Sunday.
Paul Blockley's hat-trick seeking grey, a dual Listed winner at two, was out of her depth in the 1000 Guineas in the spring but she's really come into her own since the rain has arrived.
Following a cracking close-up fifth at Deauville early last month, she has landed two Listed events back on home soil, and her most recent victory over a mile at Bath was arguably her most impressive performance to date.
The manner in which she stayed on in the closing stages last time gave the strong impression a return to this trip would suit and the likely soft ground conditions will certainly play to her strengths.
Albaseet shaped with a considerable amount of potential when fourth on his recent racecourse bow at Sandown and he can deliver on that promise in the EBF Celer Et Audax Maiden Stakes.
Marcus Tregoning has had a relatively quiet time with his juveniles this term but the yard has come into really good form of late and this son of Desert Style went into a few notebooks on his debut over five furlongs.
After settling in midfield, he made steady progress throughout the race and was finishing strongly into fourth at the line.
The initial experience can only have done him good and, as he is bred to appreciate further in time, the step up to six furlongs is considered another positive factor.
