Three cars were damaged after a tree fell down in Haleybridge Walk, Tangmere. Stephen Stares and his wife were woken at 6.25am
"My wife had looked out of the window, we knew the tree was there, we knew the car was there, she turned round to put her dressing gown on and we heard this almighty crash and looked out and saw the tree had hit her mini," he said. "My wife did ask me to move it but I said it'd be alright."

A Peugeot 306 was completely written off in the incident. Mr Stares and his neighbours spent the morning chopping the tree with chainsaws.

"The camerderie between everyone here was great, we just all got on with it in the rain and wind."

Stephen sent pictures of the devastation.
