Pub licensees around Bognor Regis are to display the names of banned customers for the first time.
The naming and shaming will enable customers to know who the identity of the dozen individuals.
The listing of the nine men and three women follows a solicitor's advice received by the town's Pubwatch scheme.
This has removed any uncertainty about the licensees' ability to identify the troublesome drinkers. But their photographs still cannot be shown.
Jim Shepherd, who leads Pubwatch, said the legal breakthrough was a further strengthening of the landlords' bid to keep their pubs safe for the vast majority of drinkers.
