RESIDENTS of Chichester are being given the chance to help choose new artwork.
Chichester District Council is holding a design and installation competition for an original piece of artwork for the Canal Basin.
Three artists have been chosen to submit ideas for the art, which will feature at the site, and an exhibition is being held. Their ideas will be on display until Thursday, January 24, at Chichester Library. Residents will then be able to fill in questionnaires to choose which artist they would like to see complete the design.
Mike Williams, from East Sussex, Charles Normandale, from East Hampshire and Steve Tomlinson, from North Yorkshire, are the successful finalists who have all had work previously commissioned.
An interview made up of representatives from Chichester District Council, local schools, the residents association and the Canal Basin Trust will then interview the three artists and make the final decision based on the public’s questionnaire results.
The artwork is being funded from money contributed by Linden Homes.
