ART: Chichester Art Society at Bassil Shippam Centre, Tozer Way, St Pancras. 10.15am-12.15pm. Guest artist Alex Roch demonstrates water-based oils by painting A Still Life. Sharing similar properties to traditional oils, this medium can be thinned and cleaned with water without loss of impact, making it suitable for anyone who dislikes chemical solvents. POETRY: National Poetry Day. Highly regarded Sussex poet Clare Best will read from her latest work alongside artist collaborator Michaela Ridgeway’s slide show of images. Clare will read from CELL and Springlines, which is inspired by Southern English waterways. Plus live music from guitarist Linda Kelsall-Barnett and an open mic for local poets. TALK: Illustrated talk by guest speaker Shelagh Legrave MBE, Principal of Chichester College, whose subject will be: Chichester College – a Model for Further Education, detailing how the College achieved the national distinction of ‘leading from the front’.

MUSIC: 60 minutes of classical music. The members of the 60 Minute Quartet are all highly distinguished with Jonathan Strange and Robin Brightman playing violin, Jose Gandia playing Viola and Roger Clayden a Bognor Regis resident playing cello. WALK: Harbour Creekies: From the Cathedral to the Church. 10am-11.30am. A gentle four mile walk along the historic route from Chichester to Bosham Church looking at the autumn colours on the way. Afterwards, enjoy a break in Bosham before catching a public bus back to Chichester at your leisure (times will be given at the start). Bring your bus pass or money for the bus fare. Complimentary refreshments at the Sailing Club. Due to the countryside routes, these walks are aimed at those who can walk without the use of an aid. GRAFFHAM

MUSIC: An Evening with Richard Navarro at Empire Hall, Graffham. Doors and bar open 7pm for an 8pm performance. Richard Navarro is a UK-based artist inspiring audiences through his innovative approaches to music and performance. His evocative and uplifting music takes the folk traditions of melody and storytelling and supercharges them through live looping and improvisation. Epic, soaring vocals combine with punchy, post-folk arrangements of songs that combine lyricism and sharp social commentary with violins, keyboards, infectious bass lines and driving percussion. EAST PRESTON

MARKET: Antiques & Collectables Market. 10am - 4pm at The Village Hall, Sea Road, East Preston BN16 1LP. With up to 30 tables selling vintage memorabilia including ceramics, glass, silver, art deco and art nouveau, jewellery and postcards. There will be a café set up throughout the day serving home made cakes, pastries, coffee, tea and soft drinks and a raffle. Admission £1. Organised by the East Preston Festival Committee to aid local charities and community groups.

PETS: You are warmly invited to the annual pets’ service at St Nicholas, Middleton (Elmer Rd, Middleton on Sea). The Service will start at 11.15am, lasting about 30-40 minutes. There will be some well-known hymns, the Blessing of pets, and a chance to light a candle in memory of a pet. Also, Mr Nigel Mundy will give a Talk about an important local organisation, “Pagham Ponies”, which helps to rescue ponies. The vicar, Fr William Marston, said: “The Pets’ Service is one of the high-lights of our year. We would be delighted to see you.”
