WORTHING Council is reviewing its decision to sell off nearly 200 acres of agricultural land near Cissbury Ring.
Steve Waight, cabinet member for resources and business modernisation, said: "Because the decision was made a year ago and because of public concern, we feel it right to review the decision in order to make sure we take everything into account before a final decision is made."

The decision to market the land, which will be part of the new South Downs National Park, was taken following the death of the former tenant farmer.

The sale process has been temporarily suspended pending the review.

A meeting will also be set up between the South Downs Joint Committee and the National Trust, which owns Cissbury Ring, to discuss a possible way forward.

A protest rally arranged by Stop Cissbury Sell Off will still go ahead on Saturday, November 14 at Coombe Rise Car Park, Findon Valley.

Open Spaces Society general secretary, Kate Ashbrook, will speak at the rally at 11am.

After the meeting, there will be a 4½-mile walk crossing a council-owned field, which campaigners claim has been closed to the public for four years.
