A BUSY road in Findon had to be closed for several hours this morning (Friday, May 16) after a crash resulted in 300 litres of diesel being spilled.
A motorbike and a heavy goods lorry collided on the A280 Long Furlong just before 8am. The rush-hour crash blocked the road and caused severe traffic delays.
Following the crash, police, a fire crew from Findon and the ambulance service were called to the scene. A 24-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Worthing Hospital with what police described as serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The collision ruptured the lorry's diesel tank causing 300 litres of the fuel to pour onto the road.
The spillage prompted police to close the road in both directions between the Warren Road roundabout junction and the A27 Arundel Road junction.
Highways officers were called to the scene to clear up the diesel and cover any remains of it with sand.
At 11am on Friday (May 16), the road was still closed.
