GCSE results: Our Lady of Sion school
Staff were pleased to announce the school made a significant improvement on last year’s excellent results, with 100 per cent of students obtaining at least five A*-C grades. Additionally, 92 per cent achieved at least 8 A*-C grades.
Dr Simon Orchard, head teacher, said:
“These results demonstrate the breadth of talent we have at our school and how lucky we are to have them as our students.

Science subjects were a particular point of success for the school, with 86 per cent of grades in Chemistry and Physics being A* or A, as well as a quarter of Maths grades at A* level.
“I’m so happy”, said Lauren Austen, 16. “I was so nervous but did better than I thought.”
Miss Austen achieved 6 A*s, 2 As, and a B. She plans to study Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Geography at the school next year and hopes to go on to a career in geology or volcanology.

Hide AdOlympic hopeful, Ben Hawkes got the grades he needed to study at the Our Lady of Sion sixth form, taking Biology, P.E., History and Law through to A level.
Mr Hawkes intends to compete at the World Youth Championships in Kenya in the hammer throw, and hopes to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.
Head teacher Dr Orchard is already looking ahead to next year:
“We have got some fantastic students, just need to keep building on the success I think.”
