Big Local team tidies up tired flower beds
The Sompting Big Local partnership organised the fun planting day at Millfield in Sompting.
“The planters were all very unkempt and overgrown and needed a lot of work to bring them back to life,” said Big Local co-ordinator Jacqui Matten.

Jacqui said the youngsters had enjoyed planting spring bulbs and winter pansies.
“Several planters were also commandeered for fruit and vegetables which the children thoroughly enjoyed doing, each carefully naming their own fruit tree,” said Jacqui.
Jacqui explained the growing process of the different fruit bushes and vegetables throughout the day.
“The enthusiasm was brilliant, “ she said.

The group organised a free barbecue for all those had who helped on the day.
“This is what Big Local is all about, getting out working for the community, with the community,” said Jacqui.
The planters will be tended by Big Local volunteers and residents, in what is the first of many projects the group has in the pipeline for Sompting.
