Bumper crowds at Horsham's Remembrance Sunday Service

Despite the threat of heavy showers, hundreds of people turned out and instead of rain were favoured with glorious autumn sunshine as the parade made its way into the heart of the town to the war memorial.
The Rev David Bouskill, Vicar of Holy Trinity Church, Horsham, led the service. and announced that the bells at St Mary’s Church in the Causeway would be muffled as a mark of respect for the occasion but would later ring out as normal, as they did 100 years ago.

Hide AdThe Last Post was followed by the two minutes’ service as many remembered not only those who lost their lives in the Great War but in the various conflicts since.
The Chairman of Horsham District Council, Peter Burgess, led the wreath laying on behalf of the people of the Horsham district.
He was followed by Mr Nigel Caplin, Chairman of the Royal British Legion Horsham Branch.
Jeremy Quin, Horsham’s MP, laid the third wreath, and the fourth wreath was laid by West Sussex County Council’s Morwen Millson.

Hide AdRepresentatives of the armed services and youth organisations then presented their wreaths, followed by some members of the public.
A church service followed at the Parish Church of St Mary The Virgin in the Causeway, Horsham.
