Inquests into Crawley Down deaths are suspended

West Sussex County Council confirmed the inquests into the deaths of Amy Appleton and Sandra Seagrave have been suspended today (April 28) after Daniel Appleton was charged with their murders.
A spokeswoman added: “Where a Coroner becomes aware that a person has appeared before a court charged with a homicide they are required to suspend any related inquest.”

Hide AdDaniel Gary Appleton, 37, an engineer, of Hazel Way, Crawley Down, is to face trial over the deaths of both his wife Amy Appleton, 32, and another woman, Sandy Seagrave, 76, of Kiln Road, Crawley Down, outside his property on Sunday, 22 December, 2019, Sussex Police said in February.
At the time a spokesman added: “Appleton appeared by video-link at a plea and trial preparation hearing at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday, February 25 where he entered not guilty pleas to both murders.”
His defence barrister, speaking on Appleton’s behalf, admitted his responsibility for both killings, according to police.
A spokeswoman for the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed a pre-trial review at Lewes Crown Court is scheduled for June 9.

Hide AdShe added that the trial is scheduled to start on July 6 at Isleworth Crown Court.
