Man jailed after drink driving on Selsey Road

Police said a 999 call reported a Vauxhall Corsa swerving across the road as it travelled from Selsey to Chichester on the B2145 in the early hours of Saturday, March 18.
Officers said they arrived to see Terry Scott getting out of the driver’s seat with key still in the ignition.

Hide AdHe failed a roadside breath test and was arrested and taken into custody, police confirmed.
In addition to blowing an alcohol reading of 91 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, he was found to be driving while disqualified and without insurance, police added.
Police said Scott, unemployed, of Heath Way, Iver in Buckinghamshire, appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on March 20 and pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle whilst above the legal alcohol limit, driving without insurance and driving while disqualified.
A police spokesman said Scott was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, disqualified from driving for 38 months and ordered to pay a fine of £115.

Hide AdArresting officer PC Tom Van Der Wee said: “This job was an excellent example of the public contacting us to report a suspected drink driver.
“The conviction of Terry Scott should serve as a reminder that we take such reports very seriously.”
