Disruption across West Sussex due to public sector strikes
Schools across the area have either closed or partially closed due to a National Union of Teachers (NUT) strike.
Closed schools include: Downsbrook Middle School, Durrington First School, Durrington Middle School, Field Place First School, Glebe Primary School, Heene CofE First School, Laurels First School, Lyndhurst First School, Swiss Gardens Primary School, Thomas A Becket First School, Upper Beeding Primary School, WSAPC 14-16 Centre Worthing and WSAPC Lancing.

Hide AdPartially closed schools include: Chatsmore Catholic High School, Durrington High School, Globe Primary School, Rustington Community Primary School, Seaside Primary School, St Margaret’s CofE Primary School, Steyning Grammar, Storrington First School, Thomas A Becket Middle School and the Vale First and Middle Schools.
Between 10am and 7pm today, fire stations in the area will also be affected by strike action due to an on-going dispute between the government and the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) over changes to the firefighters’ pension scheme and conditions of service.
Unison, Unite and the GMB will strike over opposition to the government’s one per cent pay award offered to local government staff.
The county council has stressed that the industrial action is the result of national disputes between the government and the various unions and it has no control of the situation locally.
