Mrs Ellis said the event this year paid tribute to the landscaped spaces provided by the Princess Royal Hospital, where many areas are cared for by volunteers.
She said: “The NHS Grounds Staff have created such pleasant, peaceful places for patients, staff and visitors alike, so it was wonderful to present them with a special award.”
She continued: “Our residents and businesses have made such an impact on our town’s entry to South and South East IN BLOOM 2022. The judges were wowed by the entries, which sparkled with colour, design and creativity and I would personally like to thank all of our contestants.”
Town mayor Howard Mundin also attended the event.
