The competition was run by Chichester Cathedral to coincide with the Festival of Flowers from June 2 to 4 and schools were invited to submit entries on this year’s theme, The Artist’s Palette.
Entries came from West Dean Primary and The March in Chichester, Fishbourne Primary, North Mundham Primary, Conifers in Easebourne, Camelsdale Primary in Haslemere, The Waterloo School in Waterlooville and St Alban’s Primary. They included interpretations of work by William Morris, Matisse, John Piper, David Hockney and Henri Rousseau.

Maggie said: “It was much harder than I thought it would be. The standard of entries from these young children was so high.”
Tere will be a free exhibition of the children’s work in the Cathedral Cloisters during the Festival of Flowers from June 2 to 11.
Winners are yet to be announced but prizes include art workshops from Pallant House Gallery and Chichester Cathedral Education Department, £200 of art vouchers from Southeast Flowers, which supplies the flowers for the festival, book vouchers and attraction tickets.
