Hospitals divided
The primary care trust has recommended that Worthing should keep all its services and more '“ including treating acute emergencies, retaining counsultant-led maternity services and being the home of a separate midwife-led unit.
Keep Worthing and Southlands Hospitals (Kwash) chairman Major Wye said he was delighted for the people of Worthing but the group commiserated with Chichester and 'felt desperately for them'.

Hide AdHe said there was no triumphalism on his part or that of Kwash, adding it was terrible that a system had been implemented that paints one of the hospitals as a loser.
He didn't count it as a victory but honestly believed the PCT had made the right decision given the criteria it used.
